the old lady in receiption is very bad manner.

The receptionist who we met was not pleasant (sorry to be such a nuisance to you), but the rooms we had were adequate and good value at $60 per night. Watch the coffee cups though!

Was a nice hotel - just badly situated for our needs

The reception personnel at this hotel were intimidating, cold and unresponsive. We would definitely not recommend it to anyone and would never return.

The motel rooms don't have ironing facilities and I was made to come down two flights of stairs to the reception to collect an iron and ironing board and likewise to return the same. Reception service was brusque and without a smile.

The price was very reasonable so we didn't expect too much, but not having an ironing board and iron in the room was surprising. We were given one when we asked, though it seemed to be a problem. Terrible shower, set too low; no face cloth; no hair dryer; toilet button always jammed when pushed; noisy fan; phone only connected if requested (we used our mobiles-cheaper!); dirty drinking glass; charged $1 to call a taxi at reception - I think that's it! I would recommend for anyone on a really tight budget who doesn't care too much about comfort.

Das Hotel besitzt keinen Frühstücksraum. Das Frühstück wird direkt auf das Zimmer geliefert und ist für den Preis von 10,- AUD mehr als dürftig. Das Hotel liegt direkt am Bruce Highway. Da die Fenster australischem Standard für Hotelfenster entsprechen, geht der Verkehr auch bei geschlossenen Fenstern sozusagen mitten durchs Appartement. Wer erwartet, daß ein Taxiruf zum Hotelservice gehört, wird enttäuscht. Man verlangt an der Rezeption dafür 1,- AUD.

We arrived after the office had closed, but had come straight from the airport, and the staff/owners were not pleased to see us and made us feel guilty. We arrived at 7.30 pm and on our internet booking form had stated the time of arrival.

Extremely friendly and helpful hosts - we weren't staying for very long, and needed to organise all the activities we were keen on, in the short time at our disposal. The wonderful hosts went out of their way to help us. Not very close to the city centre, but then that need not be a concern for people with cars - and most tours/activities anyway have pickups from where one is staying. The rooms are well-equipped, and the rates are very reasonable.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Simple accomodation but all you really need for a relaxing tea and a good night sleep. Nice pool area.

Innenstadt nur mit dem Bus (abends stuendlich) zu erreichen

Le seul inconvénient est l'emplacement assez éloigné du centre de CAIRNS ( voiture indispensable ). Le reste est très bien. L'accueil est particulièrement bon.

Chambre propre et plutot agréable donnant sur la piscine. Hotel sans prétention mais assez plaisant. Equipe efficace et agrèable. Prix plus que correct.

I really enjoyed the stay. The owners were very helpful. Location was quite good and right on a bus route. Pick-ups available for tours. I would certainly stay at this location again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Cairns Reef Apartments and Motel. The owners were very helpful and provided suggestions regarding tours in the Cairns area.

The owners were super great in helping us make arrangements for tours and getting a car rental.

Very helpful and friendly hosts. Some consider to far from the heart of Cairns, but we had no problems as Bus stopped right at the front of Apartments. Would definately stay there again.

Excellent apartment provided (which was a free upgrade), very friendly & helpful people running the place & overall, brilliant value for money - the only reason the location is down as just good was that it was a little further out of town than expected. Nevertheless local transport & taxis were readily accessible. I had a very enjoyable stay.

Don't expect to get any sleep. Walls are very thin and other people TVs / chatting / partying echo through. On the whole a cheap Motel, but the noise from all sides was unreal.

We were warmly welcomed by the Proprietors and received very good service. We would stay there again.

The worst motel that I have stayed in, extremely dirty, you can find some small insects almost everywhere in the tiny room, even on the bed. Me and my poor girlfriend got bitten so badly in our bed after the first night, and we were refused to change to another room. Some of the towers, they don''t change it unless you request it at the reception, but it is such a waste of time when you are going out early in the morning and not come back until late at night, which the reception is already closed. One thing I have to mention, it is in the middle of nowhere and is miles away from the city central, even though you got a car, it takes you at least 10-15 mins to get there from the city. So if you love dirty and quiet, this is the place for you.

We would have done better booking our room with the owners directly as we found out they were offering a better deal than hotel.com at the door! Make sure you have a car as this place is quite a distance from the heart of Cairns. Ask for a room that doesn't face the highway as the lorries are very noisy as they pass in the morning. The apartments are more spacious than comparable places closer to the city. The pool is not heated so my son couldn't use it-too cold Mum!

Quite some distance from the town centre and restaurants. OK if you have a car.

Too far out of Cairns city. Needs to be made more clear on the website. Too many petty charges, like 80 cents to book a taxi.

The apartment had ants which consumed our chicken dinner. The Host, Doreen, was rude, pushy and very un-accomodating. The pool was in a state of repair - no warning was given. The TV had very bad colouring. We did not receive replacement towels. Breakfast consisted of a tetra juice, 1 cereal, 2 slices of bread and a little milk for $10 per head - RIP OFF!

Poor location as it is far from the central town area. Manager would not turn on my room phone because I was checking out early in the morning and feared I would not settle my phone bill. Also charged me $0.80 to call and book taxi for me. I would not recommend this property as there are similar to better properties located within the central town area at same or lower cost.

Had problems with the hotel staff upon my arrival at motel--for same or cheaper rate can get location in Central Cairns business district--saves about 13-20 AUD in cab fare back and forth from city.

The location descrition read prior to booking this hotel was misleading. The description read - located between Cairns Airport and Cairns city, this is incorrect, and was quite a distance to the airport. Otherwise, it was a pleasant place to stay.

Location is too far from center of town andf the bus servicec is not friendly or efficient and the closest place to be dropped off upon return to the Inn is on the side of the highway.

Biggest problem is that this place is at least 15 min cab ride from town centre, and buses unpredictable, so not a good location if you enjoy the night life but are on a tight budget. Closest shops are a very humid 15 minute walk away.

This is a crap place with an extremly rude arrogant owner you should take them off your listings!

Arrived 2 hours after estimated time. Called at 6:30pm to inform of lateness and was told that reception would close at 7pm. Was told that it would be good if we arrived after 8pm as this would allow receptionist to have dinner beforehand. When contacted immediately after entering room regarding obtaining an iron, I was informed not at this time of night. However iron was brought to room approx. 1/2 hour after call. Asked for non-smoking, and was placed in smoking room. Service was not welcoming.

* Asked for a non smoking room but got a smoking room (had an ashtray and awful smell). * Booked in three minutes past 7 pm (when reception closed) and got an extremely grumpy receptionist who told us she had made us wait because she was cooking dinner and we had interupted her. * Asked for an iron for the room (at 7.30pm) and was told 'not at this time of night'.

Manageress was rude in handling guests grievances. Had found a better place to stay which is cheaper and friendlier and happened to be not far from this hotel and is called GATEWAY APARTMENT RESORT. Will definitely recommend other people to stay at the GATEWAY when they visiting CAIRNS.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Since it is quite a distance from the center of town where all the activities and restaurants are located, stay here only if you have a car at your disposal. The people are very helpful and can book most of the tours at short notice.

街に行くのも空港に行くのも遠いので車があったほうが良い。 エレベーターがないので荷物の持ち運びに苦労した。 部屋は清潔でベットメーキングも毎日してあり快適。 プールもあり泳いでいる人もいた。

This hotel was pretty far out of town, so if you don't plan on having a car it could be a hassle. The hotel manager was rude and very unfriendly, but it was pretty good facilities for the price. Probably wouldn't stay there again, just because the manager was so unpleasant.

Sorry to say that we had a bad experinece with this motel, even it was two years ago. We arrived in Carirnes just after dusk. It was raining heavily (not surprise during January in Cairnes). It took us an hour to find the motel and felt at odd that the manager told us that we were lucky because she was about to go off dutyat 7pm! The motel is pretty average by the Australian standard. The next day when we toured around and realised that it was not necessary to pre-book an accomdation. There were plenty rooms available in January and the price is even cheaper.

Hotel muy mal situado en Cairns, ya que está lejos del centro. Habitaciones viejas y destartaladas. Pero lo que es peor del hotel es la recepcionista-dueña, que, al contrario que el resto de australianos, es antipática, desagradable y no te ayuda en nada, más bien todo lo contrario. Lo único bueno es el precio, que es barato hasta cierto punto.

We found the hotel to be located in an outer suburb althouth in the original map it shows the location closer to the CDB. There are not any local eateries that are within walking distance if indeed you are to walk after daylight hours ion this neighbourhood The facilities were okay for the price although the apartments were noisy in the evenings. We had a great stay and met some wonderful people. We would probably stay here again. Although would prefer local to CBD/beaches I

great hotel for the price, very spacious and the staff was friendly. te only drawback was that is was further out of downtown cairns than i thought requiring cab fare back and forth.

Our only problem with the Cairns Reef Apartments and Motel was finding it on our arrival. We enjoyed being upgraded to an appartment for 10 days.

We found the apartment to be well appointed and comfortable, being out of town was of no inconvenience as shopping centres nearby and it was only an 8 minute drive to the CBD and there was also a regularly serviced bus stop outside for those without own transport. Would recommend.
